MC3 High School Cohort Visits SMART Local 177

Last week, our MC3 students at Maplewood High School had the opportunity to visit SMART Local 177, where they learned about the exciting world of Sheet Metal work from Union organizers and instructors. David LaRue, Lead Organizer at SMART Local 177, shared his thoughts on MC3 and the opportunities it offers (video):

This is the latest from our year-long, groundbreaking pilot program providing skilled construction career pathways to rising high school seniors, launched in September 2023 in collaboration with Gear Up Nashville and Maplewood High School.

We are so proud of the progress that this cohort has made through our MC3 program as they approach graduation this May, and we look forward to offering continuing support to all program participants who choose to pursue registered apprenticeship training and a career in the Union building trades after graduation.
